BUCAREST, Roumanie, 22 nov.

On this occasion, Tricha reiterated the continued commitment of the office to support Guinea in the upgrading of its training system, both in terms of development of the network of institutions and training engineering as well as training and development of trainers and technical-pedagogical staff.

The support of Morocco to Guinea, she said, in training will also involve the development of structures and mechanisms for continuing education to meet the growing needs expressed by Guinean businesses.

This collaboration, she said, would also affect the joint exploration, within the framework of triangular cooperation, of new sources of funding from global donors for the implementation of cooperation projects.

For his part, the Guinean minister welcomed the support of the OFPPT to the development of the vocational training system of his country by rethinking the cooperation and directing it to priority sectors, including agriculture, crafts and the mobilization of OFPPT experts.

Bacar Barry pointed out that in terms of capacity building, Guinea has also relied on the expertise of the OFPPT for the training of 155 trainers through a technical-pedagogical training course lasting 3 years, and this within the framework of the ERAM project with funding from the Saudi Fund and the Islamic Development Bank.

Morocco, First Exporter of Private Vehicles to Europe (Minister)

Mezzour, who was answering a question at the House of Advisors on the prospects of the automotive industry in Morocco, stressed that Morocco is now the largest exporter of passenger vehicles to Europe, exceeding in particular China, Japan, South Korea and the United States of America.

According to the Minister, the overall demand for cars on the European market, which is the largest market for Moroccan cars, has declined during this year, by 26%. Meanwhile, he noted, Moroccan sales have posted an increase of 50% on this market.

In another vein, Mezzour said that Morocco has 10,000 high-level car design engineers, for German, British, French and American brands, adding that the goal is to reach 50,000 engineers in three years.

The Kingdom is full of skills capable of manufacturing cars and dedicated factories, he said, announcing the launch in the coming weeks, of a car brand designed 100% in Morocco in national markets.

Recalling that automotive exports should reach this year, 100 billion dirhams, the Minister reported a production capacity of 700 thousand cars, with the goal of reaching one million cars.

The match will be difficult against the world runner-up who has players playing in major leagues, he said, adding that he focuses on the work within the national team rather than the Croatian counterpart, one of the best teams in this world cup.

Noting that his players have prepared well for this game, Regragui said that the support of the Moroccan fans is a strong motivation for the group to achieve victory.

9th Global Forum of UN Alliance of Civilizations Kicks off in Fez

The opening session of this two-day forum, held under the theme: “Towards An Alliance of Peace: Living Together as One Humanity”, was marked by a message addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the participants, which was read by Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to HM the King.

In this message, the Sovereign stressed that the values of the UNAOC, the ideals it stands for and the paradigm it promotes are the exact same values, ideals and paradigm championed by Morocco.

HM the King affirmed that that the Kingdom of Morocco has been involved in all of the organization’s struggles for reasons that are inseparable from its identity and for others that are inherent to the country’s commitments.

From the outset, Morocco has been committed to this basic policy; it has remained steadfastly attached to it, stressed HM the King, noting that the Kingdom has shown its commitment by promoting openness as a pillar of the culture of peace, by living religion as a vehicle of peace and by working for development – in the broadest sense of the term – as an ingredient of peace.

Co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, this event is attended by many prominent figures including the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.

A thousand participants of official delegations belonging to the group of countries and organizations friends of the alliance, civil society, actors in the field of action of the alliance, academics, young professionals and students take part in this forum.

This international event aims to promote dialogue and cooperation between different communities, cultures and civilizations, and to build bridges that unite populations and people beyond their cultural or religious differences, developing a series of concrete actions aimed at conflict prevention and peace building.

The organization of this forum in Morocco demonstrates its effective commitment to the principles of dialogue, coexistence and respect for others.

This large-scale event represents a unique opportunity to deepen discussions and debates on the prevention and fight against violent extremism; the central role of education; the role of women as mediators and peacemakers; the fight against anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and Christianophobia; sport as a vehicle for peace and inclusion; balancing migratory narratives through programming; the role of religious leaders in promoting peace; coexistence and social harmony; reinvigorating multilateralism through the culture of peace; and the fight against online hate speech.

The program of this 9th Edition of the Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, co-sponsored by Spain and Turkey, includes a UNAOC Group of Friends High-Level Ministerial Meeting.

The proceedings of this forum will be closed by the adoption of the Declaration of Fez.

Alliance of Civilizations Called On to Identify Similarities, Synergies Between Different Cultures, Religions (Moratinos)

Speaking at the opening of the 9th Global Forum of the UNAOC in Fez, (November 22-23), Moratinos explained that these differences must be resolved in an open dialogue and in a peaceful manner in order to find solutions and avoid that they are manipulated and used as a source of controversy.

Therefore, the Alliance of Civilizations can precisely serve as a platform to facilitate the understanding and respect of each of our cultures and civilizations, which need each other anyway to survive in the future, he added.

In this regard, he argued, the meeting in Fez is an opportunity to defend more than ever the need for an alliance of peace between different civilizations, commending the “full support of HM King Mohammed VI and His leadership in organizing this Forum.”

“We, citizens of the world, should be able to express ourselves with a sufficient level of maturity and development and make a leap towards building a terminology and a positive political action. In the face of negative concepts and attitudes, we must defend a new positive vocabulary,” stressed the UN official.

The world, he noted, is not witnessing a clash of civilizations, but a clash of interests and ignorance, as well as clashes and struggles for hegemony and to obtain areas of influence, which it is necessary to combat through a dialogue and a meeting of civilizations.

The opening session of this two-day forum, held under the theme: “Towards An Alliance of Peace: Living Together as One Humanity”, was marked by a message addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the participants, which was read by Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to HM the King.

“These two projects reflect the royal vision to preserve and protect the national heritage in all its forms of expression for the benefit of future generations and achieve the best possible knowledge and understanding between peoples,” said the president of the FNM, who was speaking at the meeting held under the sign “Culture as a sine qua non of peace. Fez, Ideal Place to Defend Alliance of Civilizations Goals (Spanish FM)

Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the group of friends of the UNAOC within the framework of the 9th forum of the Alliance, the Spanish official stressed that Fez, where several civilizations have coexisted, is the ideal place to defend the goals of this alliance, highly praising the efforts of the Kingdom in this direction.

He also highlighted the importance of the spiritual capital of the Kingdom as a Moroccan and African city, stressing the need to listen to the voice of Africa, given the fact that the population of the continent is expected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050.

In addition, Albares called for continued efforts to address the challenges that were at the origin of the creation of the UNAOC.

The Spanish minister called on the international community to support partners in precarious situations, adding that “our prosperity depends on that of our neighbors and the international community in general”.

“The Alliance is a good example as an important mechanism to promote proactive diplomacy and to establish peace and resolve conflicts,” he said.

9th Forum of Alliance of Civilizations Has Achieved its Main Objective (Fez Declaration)

In the Fez Declaration that was issued at the end of the proceedings of the ministerial meeting of the 9th UNAOC forum, the participants recognized “the important contribution to the debates, here in Fez, by youth, particularly African youth”, while welcoming their commitment to lead by example through involvement in UNAOC activities related to education, media and migration.

The document called for “the full implementation of the announcements and commitments agreed in Fez Forum, so that Governments, with the support of the civil society, can overcome challenges and move forward towards the goals of living together in peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.”

Also, the Declaration welcomed the convening of the 9th UNAOC Global Forum, for the first time on the African continent, and particularly in the heart of the historical city of Fez, “a land of ancestral character and deep-rooted spiritualism,” and praised the host country, under the farsighted leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, “a fervent advocate of values of peace and coexistence nationally and worldwide, for its full engagement and dedication to make the Fez Forum a fruitful space for promoting human interaction and fostering dialogue and peace”.

In addition, the Fez Declaration welcomed Equatorial Guinea’s offer to host the African regional meeting of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in 2023, as well as Portugal’s offer to host the 10th UNOAC Global Forum, to be held in Lisbon in 2024.

The participants in the forum also stressed that “freedom of religion or belief and freedom of expression are interdependent, interrelated and mutually reinforcing,” while emphasizing the role that these rights can play in the fight against all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief.

The members of the Alliance also recognized that “respect for the cultural diversity and cultural rights in accordance with international standards off all persons enhances cultural pluralism, contributing to a wider exchange of knowledge and understanding of cultural background, advancing the application and enjoyment of human rights throughout the world, and fostering stable, friendly relations among peoples and nations worldwide.”

While expressing “deep concern” about the use of new information technologies, such as the Internet and social media, for purposes contrary to respect for human values, the participants recognized that information and communications technologies are fundamentally altering the way individuals and communities interact, consume and spend their time, with new and unforeseen health and social consequences, many of which are positive and some of which raise concerns.

Therefore, the Fez Declaration condemned any advocacy of hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence, whether it involves the use of print, audiovisual or electronic media, social media or any other means.

In this regard, the document stressed the need to develop and implement policies, action plans and strategies related to the promotion of media and information literacy, and to increase awareness, capacity for preventing, monitoring and countering disinformation, misinformation and hate speech.

In addition, the Declaration reaffirmed political commitment to the five pillars of activity of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, mainly, youth, education, media migration and women as peace makers. It acknowledged the work done in those areas and emphasized its constructive role in promoting the values of conflict prevention, mediation and reconciliation.

The participants encouraged the Alliance to continue its work through a number of projects, in collaboration with governments, international organizations, foundations and civil society groups, as well as media.

The Fez Declaration acknowledged the important role of UNAOC as a platform for intercultural and interreligious dialogue and as a space to foster cooperation, solidarity and human fraternity.

The UNAOC was called upon to continue to strengthen and broaden its engagement with religious leaders and faith actors to provide them with opportunities for interfaith dialogue to promote tolerance, mutual respect and understanding, and reject violence.
