“We need policies that encourage innovation to motivate students and young people to do research that benefits their environment […] and that can meet the needs of sustainable development,” said Sekkouri who spoke at the official opening session of the 4th International Congress on Advanced Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Development (AI2SD’2022).

Speaking during this event, organized under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI by Mohammed V University in Rabat, through the National School of Arts and Crafts (ENSAM), the Minister demonstrated the close links between intelligent systems and sustainable development.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of innovation that serves the welfare of people, society and economies, creating wealth and jobs while being able to meet market needs.

This innovation consists in mastering technological advances, especially advanced intelligent systems, artificial intelligence and blockchain, he added.

The inaugural session of this event, which took place in the presence of ministers and Moroccan and foreign personalities from the diplomatic world, academia and entrepreneurship, was marked by the signing of several partnership agreements between ENSAM and some companies.

The session, hosted by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), was also marked by the awarding of prizes to the best innovation projects by young people and was punctuated by an art exhibition under the theme “meeting between art and science.”

The AISD’2022, which will continue until May 30, includes several themes, namely “the contribution of technological innovation to sustainable development”, “the importance of renewable energy in protecting the environment” and “the applications of green technologies in health and construction.”
