Meknes: Five Arrested over Drug Trafficking (Police)

Rabat – The judicial police of Meknes arrested, over the weekend, five individuals with multiple criminal records, including two brothers, for their alleged involvement in cases of drug trafficking and possession of knives in circumstances likely to endanger the safety and security of citizens.

The national police services had interacted with a video footage filming the dangerous driving of a vehicle “pickup” in a boulevard of the Borj Moulay Omar region in the city of Meknes, carrying a group of individuals armed with knives, said the National Police (DGSN) in a press release, specifying that investigations revealed that this is a dispute between two groups of people involved in cases of drug trafficking.

The security operations led to the identification of a group of people involved in this case and the arrest of five of them, all repeat offenders for violent crimes, said the DGSN, noting that quantities of drugs were seized on some of them and a car used to commit some of the criminal acts filmed in this footage was seized.

The suspects were remanded in police custody for the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while security operations are still going on to arrest other individuals possibly involved in these crimes, concluded the source.
