The challenges of the emergence of the AES at the heart of the debates at the first CASEM of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré chaired this Wednesday in Ouagadougou the first session of 2024 of the board of directors of the sector ministerial CASEM 2024 of the department placed under the theme: ‘Issues of the emergence of the Alliance of Sahel States in the context of the fight against terrorism: Role of diplomacy’.

In the opinion of Minister Traoré, this theme provides the opportunity to examine and understand the challenges of the new organization that is the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and to ‘clear the place and role that must use our diplomacy for its effective operationalization.

Furthermore, the session was the place for participants to examine and adopt the 2023 annual activity report, that of the evaluation of the performance of the department’s structures, and to work on the activities of 2024.

In terms of the department’s performance for the year 2023, we note a score of 83% recorded by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad.

The Chairman of the Board praised the efforts of all employees for the results achieved, recalling however that challenges remain to be met.

Minister Traoré invited the actors in his ministry to redouble their efforts at different levels, with a view to further promoting Burkinabe diplomacy.
