On the sidelines of the National Culture Week (SNC), the West regional management of Editions Sidwaya is holding its Open Days (JPO) in Bobo-Dioulasso from May 2 to 4, 2023 . This activity was also marked by the official inauguration of the printing press of the city of Sya.

The Western Regional Directorate (DRO) of Editions Sidwaya wants to make itself better known to the public and its partners. It is in this sense that it organizes its Open Days (JPO), the launch of which took place on Tuesday May 2, 2023, at the headquarters of the DRO.

Speeches, performances by artists, cutting of the ribbon, visit to the stands and the new printing works, were the highlights of this ceremony. For the Director General (DG) of Editions Sidwaya, Assétou Badoh, the opening of these days is a godsend for the direction of the West, created in 2008, to discover its attributions and capacities in the field of information and communication within its territorial jurisdiction.

To do this, during its 3 days of immersion, several activities are planned, namely a mini-fair of exhibitions, master classes for the benefit of students in journalism and communication and a panel on the theme: “the press in a digitization: challenges and perspectives ”.

The “commune house” also took advantage of these days to inaugurate its printing press in Bobo-Dioulasso. The infrastructure was built thanks to the support of the Regional Council of Hauts-Bassins for an amount of 25 million FCFA for the construction of the building and of the government to the tune of 644 million FCFA for the acquisition of the printing press and the training of technicians for its operation.

This printing house includes an insolator, a plate processor with the possibility of adding a ToPlate computer system, an Offset machine, etc. To listen to the DG, one of the elements of relief is that its operationalization makes it possible to solve the problem of routing of the titles in the regions of the Hauts-Bassins, the Cascades, the South-West and the Boucle du Mouhoun.

“In addition to the other products, this printing press is open to the population of Bobo and all of the West, to the public and private administration, to cultural actors, to the business world for their various printing works”, indicated Ms. badoh.

The boss of the first press group greeted all those who contributed to the realization of this project, in particular the former presidents of the Hauts-Bassins Regional Council Alfred Sanou, Baba Traoré and Célestin Koussoubé, but also the then Secretary General of the Regional Council, Braima Fabéré Sanou.

“I would like to reassure our benefactors, in this case the Hauts-Bassins Regional Council and the government, of our commitment to make good use of this infrastructure and to work on its profitability,” she said.
