Regional Conference for Justice Inspection Services of South Mediterranean States Kicks Off in Casablanca

The two-day event is held by the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), in close collaboration with the European Network of Justice Inspection Services (RESIJ) and the General Inspectorate of Judicial Affairs of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

It is organized in the framework of the joint program between the European Union and the Council of Europe entitled “Regional Support to Reinforce Human Rights, Rule of Law and Democracy in the Southern Mediterranean (South Programme IV).”

Speaking at the opening of this conference, the Inspector General of Judicial Affairs of the Superior Council of the Judiciary Abdellah Hamoud stressed the momentum marking the judicial system in Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The reform of the judicial system was crowned five years ago by the establishment of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, an initiative aimed at strengthening the rule of law and institution and consolidating the principle of judicial independence,” he noted.

For his part, the First President of the Court of Cassation and Delegate President of the CSPJ, Mohamed Abdennabaoui said that the South Mediterranean network of justice inspection services that will see the light at the end of the conference will contribute to the revitalization of the common judicial system.

This initiative will bring added value to international cooperation programs and will contribute to improving the performance of justice while promoting constructive dialogue between the institutions of the judiciary and other actors in the justice sector, he wrote in a speech read on his behalf at the opening of the event.

This regional conference brings together representatives of the general inspectorates of justice of the countries of the southern Mediterranean region and certain European countries members of the RESIJ. The event consists of reflection workshops on the status and competencies of justice inspectorates, the implementation of the missions of control of persons and organization of the courts, as well as the prospects and new missions of the inspections.
