Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo visited on Tuesday, in Ouagadougou, the construction site of the new headquarters of Radio Broadcasting television of Burkina Faso (RTB) whose physical execution rate is 40%, according to the director of the Faso Baara SA Agency, Daouda Zongo.
The Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Foresight, Aboubacar Nacanabo, as well as the Minister Delegate responsible for budget, Fatoumata Bako/Traoré, visited on Tuesday March 26, 2024, in Ouagadougou, the construction site of the new headquarters of Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (RTB).
According to Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the objective of this field visit is to see first-hand the progress of the work. ‘This allows us to think about finding mechanisms that will give a boost to the project so that it can move forward in one go until its c
ompletion,’ said the minister.
In his opinion, there is a problem with the efficiency of the RTB given the dispersion of its services in the city of Ouagadougou, but also a challenge to be in line with current technological developments.
For him, ‘with the size of the studios and especially everything that is planned as an investment, this gives us a glimpse of an RTB that will be in line with the challenges and missions assigned to it.’
According to the director of the Faso Baara SA Agency, Daouda Zongo, the physical execution rate of the site is 40%.
Started in 2018, the RTB project which was planned to be carried out over a period of 3 years, experienced suspensions linked to financing problems, to be resumed in 2023, thanks to the declared desire of the Ministry of Communication to allow for the RTB to have its headquarters as soon as possible.
Faced with the financing problem raised and the complexity of the project, the Minister in charge of Finance Aboubacar Nacanabo promised to play his part so t
hat the project can be completed in the right conditions in order to allow the RTB to be more efficient. .
The construction of the RTB headquarters is an ambitious project which mobilized the companies KANAZOE FRÈRES and NAKINGTAORE. The infrastructures being built cover an area of approximately 1 hectare. It is a main building of type R+5 and a multifunction workshop. This visit by the minister comes six months after his previous visit.
