Mexico City: Minister of Culture Confers with UNESCO Director General

During this meeting, held on the sidelines of the UNESCO Mondiacult World Conference, Bensaid reviewed the preparations for the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, scheduled to take place soon in Rabat.

 

The minister stressed the Kingdom’s commitment, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to safeguard the intangible cultural heritage.

 

Bensaid also held on Friday a meeting with a delegation of the Moroccan Jewish community in Mexico City.

 

Speaking at the meeting, held in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Mexico Abdelfattah Lebbar, the minister welcomed the strong attachment of the Moroccan Jewish community to its country of origin as well as the ancestral relations between Moroccan Muslims and Jews who have lived side by side in peace for over a millennium.

 

He also highlighted the Kingdom’s pride in the Jewish component of the country’s culture and its determination to protect and safeguard it.

 

For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their strong attachment to the Kingdom and the glorious Alaouite throne.

 

On this occasion, the Chief Rabbi of the Moroccan Jewish community in Mexico, Mesoud Zrihen, prayed to God to preserve HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, to perpetuate on Him the benefits of health and to grant long life to the Sovereign.

 

He also prayed to the Almighty to fulfill the Sovereign in the person of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the illustrious royal family.
