This exhibition is an opportunity to highlight 245 years of privileged relations, marked by peace and friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America. In fact, the origin of these relations dates back to the time of Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah and the First American President George Washington in the late of the 18th century, said Monday a statement by the General Staff of FAR.
The exhibition also highlights the historical stand of Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef on the necessity of facilitating the landing of American troops, that came as Friends, according to the same source.
Also, the importance of the Anfa historical meeting between Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef and the American President Franklin Roosevelt, with the presence of the British prime Minister Winston Churchil, in the margin of the Anfa Conference, to discuss about the independence of Morocco and the strengthening of bilateral Moroccan-American relationships through a photographic reminder about the exchange of official visits of the two Heads of States, the document stressed.
This exhibition composed out of five parts, is full of historical documents and items, be they maps, documents, uniforms, provided as a loan courtesy of the Utah Military Museum/National Guard or the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, among which some are exhibited for the first time, in addition, as well as testimonies of the Heads of State of both Nations.
Parts of the exhibition are “The Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America: Secular Relations”, “Operation Torch, the turning point of the war”, “Casablanca, a strategic choice”, “Morocco’s war effort”, and “The Moroccan-American relations after independence”.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM), from the 15th to the 20th of November 2022, from 10 am to 04 pm, the statement concluded.
