Bobo-Dioulasso: Trainees from Water and Forests have completed their two-month special initial military training at the Armed Forces Training Group. They received their certificates on March 22, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

These interns constitute the second wave resulting from the recruitment of 2,000 student assistants for Water and Forests session 2023.

There are 945 of them, including 482 boys and 463 girls. These forestry trainees joined the Armed Forces Training Group (GIFA) on January 24, 2024 where for nearly two months, they became familiar with the handling of weapons, first aid in combat or the measures to be adopted in an area where find hidden improvised explosive devices.

In addition to military maneuvers, trainees received civic and military values.

The 945 water and forestry agents received their certificates of completion of military training on March 22 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

On the occasion, the delegate of the trainees, Pegwendé Gatien Kabré, expressed the recognition of the promotion to all
those who contributed to the smooth running of their internship and the quality of their training.

‘The military maneuvers, the theoretical and practical courses, the songs, the rigor of the instructors have forged in us a personality ready to respond to enemy fire,’ assured Mr. Kabré.

The GIFA commander, Battalion Chief Yves Bambara, urged them not to let themselves be overcome by doubt, fatigue and fear when faced with adversity.

‘Honor must be your benchmark, courage your compass, the rage to conquer your thirst. Never bow down to the enemy. Always be exhilarated by a victory at the end of tenacity,’ the commander advised.

He specified that the training of foresters was focused on combat training, because in addition to the sovereign missions of this body, these agents have a role to play in the fight against terrorism alongside other defense forces and their security.

It is this option, according to Yves Bambara, which led to the recruitment of 2,000 Water and Forests students, the first wave of whic
h left GIFA on January 23.
