2022 Women’s AFCON Handball (Presidents Cup/Ranking): Morocco beats Cape Verde by 29 to 24

Diamniadio (Senegal) – The Moroccan national women’s handball team beat its peer of Cape Verde by 29 to 24 (19-10 half-time), in a ranking match counting for the President’s Cup, scheduled during the 25th edition of the African Women’s Handball Championship, played Saturday at the Dakar Arena sports complex, in Diamniadio, located 30 km from the Senegalese capital.

 

The first half ended with a score of 19 to 10 in favor of the Atlas Lionesses, who thus record their first victory in this competition, organized on 09-19 November with the participation of 13 African national teams.

 

The Moroccan handball players have shown a good performance during this ranking match, played in the presence of the president of the Royal Moroccan Handball Federation (FRMHB), Adli Hanafi.

 

The Moroccan player, Alicia Zouguira, was chosen as the best player of the match against Cape Verde.

 

The Lionesses of the Atlas had recorded five defeats during the games of the Pools and the Presidents Cup programmed in this tournament.

 

At the end of the group stage, Morocco’s national team, led by the French coach Kevin Decaux, was ranked 5th in group B after four defeats.
