The services of the Oujda police prefecture had opened, Wednesday morning, a judicial investigation after the arrest of 55 would-be immigrants, including 13 minors, from Sudan, Chad and Algeria, who entered illegally in the Moroccan territory, said the statement, adding that the investigations carried out have identified the nationality of the two involved in the planning and preparation of an illegal immigration operation by forcing way through the fence separating Nador and Mellilia.
The security interventions carried out in this case led to the arrest of suspects in the city of Oujda, while the search of a house where they stay resulted in the seizure of 274 iron hooks used to climb the metal fence, said the same source.
The DGSN also reported the seizure of several passports belonging to other people, a laptop computer, sums of money in national and foreign currencies and receipts of money transfers likely to be originated from this criminal activity.
The two main suspects were placed in custody while the would-be immigrants were subjected to the judicial investigation which is conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to detect the potential ramifications of this criminal activity and to arrest other accomplices in the preparation of illegal immigration operations involved in this case.
