Sousse sees 41% increase in number of visitors to El Kantaoui tourist zone

The Sousse-El Kantaoui tourist zone saw an influx of 342,246 visitors from January 1 to June 10, 2023, compared to only 242,625 visitors during the same period last year, marking an increase of over 41%.

The number of overnight stays also showed a positive development during the same period, reaching 1,202,000 overnight stays, compared to only 638,481 overnight stays during the same period in 2022, indicating an 88% growth, according to local commissioner of Tourism Taoufik Gaied, reported to TAP.

During the first 10 days of the current month, the number of tourists in Sousse reached 31,578 visitors, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year.

Similarly, the number of overnight stays during the same period improved by 61%, with 145,221 nights spent, compared to 89,942 during the same period of the previous year, according to the same source.

The Tunisian market, with 151,474 visitors, remains the leading nationality among those staying in hotels in the region, followed by the Algerian market with 39,615 tourists, and then the French market with 25,454 tourists.

The British market ranks fourth among European tourists who visited the Sousse-El Kantaoui tourist zone during this period, with 21,603 tourists, as stated by the same source.
