Former Minister of Culture Baba Hama moderated Monday, in Bobo-Dioulasso, a panel on the theme “The dynamics of artistic expressions: spaces for the promotion and dissemination of Burkinabè products in the context of globalization.
At the start of the panel held as part of the 20th edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2023, former Minister of Culture Baba Hama indicated that artistic expressions result from the creativity of individuals, groups or societies and their creativities have cultural contents.
He explained that by cultural activity we mean all activities related to creation, production, distribution and consumption in the field of the Arts, for example (music, dance, theatre, performing arts , radio and TV programs).

He underlined that cultural activities have a double economic and cultural value. “These two values are in fact interdependent and together they contribute to the growth and preservation of diversity,” he said.
For Baba Hama, cultural diversity is seen as the existence of different cultures within an organization or society. The former minister then explained the cultural dynamic which means that culture is in motion.
“It is a movement that starts from within a social group, a movement of awareness of this group, of its potential for producing projects and which makes this group become both actor and subject”, said he let know.
According to Baba Hama, the economic potential of the cultural sector in Burkina Faso can enable it to become a lever for development. He informed that a survey showed that the cultural sector employs more than the civil service sector.
He cited several spaces for the dissemination and promotion of cultural expressions such as festivals, events, cultural activities such as National Culture Week.
According to him, the regular organization of these events in Burkina Faso makes it possible to highlight the national cultural heritage.
“All these spaces are frameworks for the promotion of artistic expressions or cultural expressions. The cultural dynamism in Burkina Faso is reflected in the regular holding of these events,” he said.
In the field of the dissemination of cultural expressions, the media must play a leading role, said Baba Hama. He deplored that the cultural bubbling in Burkina is not sufficiently supported by the media. “The media must be carriers of culture,” he said.
Concerning external distribution, Baba Hama recalled that “the national policy recommends the development of strategies for conquest of information on the national and sub-regional market”.
