The launch of the literary activities of the 20th edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) was marked on Monday by the opening of the symposium placed under the theme of “diversity, convergence and continuity”.

One of the important pages of the National Culture Week (SNC) concerns literary activities.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bobo-Dioulasso, the opening ceremony of the literary component of the SNC was coupled with a symposium bringing together the luminaries of the world of Burkinabe culture.

Before the start of this meeting, the Ministers of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, and that of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Joseph André Ouédraogo , visited several exhibition stands and book sales.

This visit allowed the authorities to become acquainted with certain exhibited works. “I don’t think anything can replace the book,” said Minister André Ouédraogo.

For him, the best plan currently to get students interested in reading is to have the subjects for reflection in the baccalaureate come from books.

At the end of this visit, the Minister in charge of National Education chaired the opening of the symposium placed under the theme: “diversity, convergence, continuity”.

It is, in his opinion, a meeting of reflection and exchanges with a view to building national and international public opinion on the foundations of cultural diversity carried by some sixty ethnocultural communities.

“We are convinced that culture can be a bulwark against violent extremism and terrorism,” the minister said.

He invited the participants to reflect in order to come up with “strong ideas” to overcome terrorism.

The Minister in charge of Culture, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, also hoped that from this colloquium, emerge the conviction that Burkina will go nowhere without its diversity and its culture.
