Sanchez Message to HM the King: Recognition of Morocco’s Efforts for Peace (Pres. of Foreign Committee of Peruvian Congress)

“Justice has been done for Morocco,” added Bustamante on Spain’s recognition of the importance of the Sahara issue for the Kingdom.

The Peruvian deputy, who commented on the message sent to HM King Mohammed VI by the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, expressed his “great satisfaction” to see “Spain abandon its inadequate position of ‘neutrality’ in the Sahara conflict and recognize the autonomy proposal as the most serious, realistic and credible basis” for resolving this dispute.

Bustamante emphasized the willingness of Madrid and Rabat to address together the common challenges and ensure the stability and territorial integrity of both countries, which have a common history and interests.

For him, this new Spanish position “leaves without foundation those who still defend positions that belong to the last century.”

Bustamante said that “separatism has lost ground completely. It has no support from any European country, nor from Russia and China, nor from the United Nations. The only country in the Arab League that supports it (separatism) is Algeria, which of course has its own geopolitical agenda”.
