Sales of Tunisian destination in France on upward trend (SETO)


Tunis: “Sales of the Tunisian destination in France have shown a noticeable upward trend during this period. We are expecting positive figures this year,” said President of the Syndicat des entreprises du tour-opĂ©rating (SETO) RenĂ©-Marc Chikli, during a VTC meeting with Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Mohamed Moez Belhassine.

The number of French tourists who visited Tunisia between January 1 and June 10 was up by 9.5% in 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, and by 24% compared with 2019. For the whole of 2023, Tunisia welcomed 1.16 million French tourists, according to statistics provided by the General Directorate of Borders and Foreigners (Ministry of the Interior).

The minister also had a VTC talk with President of the German Travel Association (DRV) Norbert Fiebig, according to a Tourism Department press release on Friday evening.

The German official said he was “optimistic” about achieving “good” results in 2024, notably during the summer period.

“Tunisia enjoys an exceptional position with
German tour operators and travel agencies. It is one of Germany’s favourite destinations,” he stated.

Up to June 10, the number of German tourists had risen by 9.8% compared with the same period in 2023, and by 7.4% compared with 2019.

For the whole of last year, 303,000 entries by German tourists were recorded (Interior Ministry statistics).

During these meetings, Belhassine called on the French and German sides to further promote Tunisia as a destination and to collaborate with Tunisian tourism professionals, pointing out that this year his department has started implementing a programme aimed at improving the “tourist experience” of foreign visitors to Tunisia and developing the services on offer.
