Sahara Issue: Peruvian Congress Reaffirms Support to Morocco’s Autonomy Plan

The position of the Peruvian Parliament is to support the solution proposed by the Kingdom in 2007, namely the autonomy plan of the southern provinces under full Moroccan sovereignty, Bustamante Donavre told the press after his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Advisors (upper house), Naama Mayara.

The Peruvian official also highlighted the importance of promoting trade and economic exchanges between the two countries, particularly in the fields of aerospace, automotive industry and renewable energy.

For his part, the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Advisors said that the Kingdom is determined to move forward in establishing advanced regionalization, stressing that the only solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara must be under Moroccan sovereignty.

He stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the two Houses of the Moroccan Parliament and the Peruvian Congress.

He also emphasized the essential role of the legislative institution in the consolidation of economic and trade relations between the two countries, especially in the sectors of fisheries, renewable energy, aerospace and automotive industry.
