Speaking at a workshop organized by the Agency Bayt Mal Al-Quds in collaboration with the Agency for the dedensification and rehabilitation of the city of Fez and the Ministry of National Planning, Urban Development, Housing and Urban Policy, on the theme “Between Fez and Al Quds: Protecting and preserving the ancient architecture is a common duty of humanity,” Cherkaoui stressed that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, upon High instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, takes advantage of successful experiences for the implementation of social policies and economic projects that have a tangible and direct impact on Al-Quds and its inhabitants.
He also noted that the Kingdom of Morocco has made significant achievements in the field of enhancement and preservation of the architectural heritage of ancient cities, palaces and historic kasbahs, adding that through these achievements, Morocco has become a model praised by specialized international organizations.
Cherkaoui commended the Palestinian experience which has, in turn, achieved outstanding results in terms of preserving the archaeological heritage of Al Quds and protecting its authentic identity.
The Director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency noted that the work of this workshop resulted in the drafting of a reference document on good practices for the restoration and maintenance of ancient buildings in Al-Quds, which will be incorporated into the guide of procedures and measures to regulate the interventions of the Agency in the field of restoration and reconstruction of the Holy City.
In this context, he expressed his gratitude to the Agency’s team in Al Quds as well as to the Ministry of National Planning for its support in protecting the authentic architectural character of the city of Al Quds.
