The Association of Blind and Visually Impaired People of Passoré (APMAP) commemorated its 12th anniversary on April 19 and 20, 2024 in Yako.

The Association of Visually Impaired and Blind People of Passoré (APMAP) commemorated on April 19 and 20, 2024, the 12 years of its existence in the province.

The official commemoration ceremony took place on Saturday April 20, 2024 at the Yako Youth and Culture House.

Several activities were included in the program of these 48 hours for the visually impaired and blind person at Le Passoré, whose conference theme was ‘Twelve years of thanksgiving: You, person living with a disability. What is the contribution to building a world of peace and social cohesion in the Passoré province? »

This involved the organization of a tandem race for the benefit of visually impaired and blind people, a football match with the FDS, a torball match, a distribution of liquid soaps and balls to the residents of the Yako remand and correction center and to the patients of the medical cen
ter with surgical antenna.

A community meal was offered at the association’s headquarters. The official opening of the ceremony was marked by a performance by visually impaired artists, slam, a presentation of Braille writing in addition to testimonies on experiences lived because of their disability.

According to the president of the Association of visually impaired and blind people of Passoré, Blaise Wibgha, the two days of the visually impaired and blind person are intended not only as a kind of recognition to God for his graces in favor of the Association but also as a stopover to report on actions carried out for the benefit of their peers at Le Passoré.

‘For 12 years, we have been promoting people living with visual disabilities, including their inclusion and economic empowerment,’ said Mr. Wibgha.

APMAP has also strived to introduce its members to learning Braille writing, which it has initiated since 2014 for the benefit of the visually impaired and blind in the locality.

In addition to a framewo
rk for reflection, the structure made it possible to carry out awareness-raising outings for parents of people living with a disability in the municipalities of the province with a view to their reintegration.

The godmother of the ceremony, Monique Ouédraogo/Ilboudo said she agreed to add her image to the commemoration in view of the efforts made by the association over its 12 years of existence.

This is why she formulated a message of encouragement and resilience towards those responsible for the Association given their situation and the difficult security context.

The High Commissioner of Passoré, Daouda Sangaré who chaired the ceremony, suggested that the theme chosen for the conference is evocative in view of the current situation that Burkina Faso is going through.

The authority also took the opportunity to call on all the sons and daughters of the country and Passoré for their contribution to building peace and social cohesion.

Very satisfied with the organization of the activity and the mobilizati
on of the partners and established bodies of the province, the President of APMAP expressed his thanks on their behalf.
