The minister commended the unwavering position of the United States on the issue of the Moroccanness of the Sahara as well as the U.S. support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco as a credible, serious and realistic solution to this artificial regional conflict.

Reiterating her country’s position on the Moroccan Sahara and the autonomy initiative, Ms. Sherman praised the Kingdom’s contribution to the Middle East peace process and the Libyan dialogue.

On the occasion of her visit to Morocco, Ms. Sherman held a meeting with Mr. Bourita and co-chaired with him a session of the Strategic Dialogue, which is part of the regular consultations between the Kingdom and the United States of America.

This session was an opportunity for American and Moroccan diplomats to review a series of issues of common interest, including security and human rights cooperation, and discuss regional issues related to the Sahel, Libya and Ukraine.
