In an analysis published by PCNS on the occasion of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism that can lead to terrorism, Rezrazi, who is also a professor of crisis management and security studies, explained that the first step is “the development of security performance in its intelligence dimension or those related to law enforcement agencies and security forces.

He cited as an example the creation in 2015 of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) and the updating of the legal arsenal through amendments to the Penal Code, including Law No. 86.14 of 2015 supplementing and amending the law 03-03 of 2003 on the fight against terrorism.

The expert mentioned, secondly, the dimension relating to prevention, restructuring the management of the religious field, training imams and religious actors and regulating the management of mosques, organizing charitable works and control of the issuance of fatwas.

The third requirement is the efforts to protect prisoners against terrorism and extremism, as well as the management of returnees from areas of tension, said the academic, adding that several rehabilitation programs have been developed for this purpose, including the program “Moussalaha” (reconciliation).
