Moroccan Sahara: Spain’s New Position ‘Hard Blow to Polisario Separatists and Their Supporters” (Bulgarian Paper)

Under the title: “historic message to the King of Morocco, a reversal of Spain’s position”, the newspaper refers to the message sent by the Spanish head of the executive Pedro Sanchez to HM King Mohammed VI in which Madrid announces the approval of the Moroccan autonomy plan to resolve this regional dispute, adding that Sanchez recognizes the importance of the Sahara issue for Morocco and the efforts led by the Kingdom within the UN to find a peaceful solution to this dispute that has lasted decades.

The publication, which recalls that Moroccan-Spanish relations have gone through a cold period, notes that Sanchez is now in favor of a new phase in Spain’s relations with Morocco.

“This new stage will be achieved by developing an ambitious roadmap with the aim of ensuring stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity of the two countries, linked by historical relations,” adds the newspaper.

It stresses that the new Spanish position on the Sahara comes after the confirmation by U.S. President Joe Biden of the position of the U.S. administration in favor of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Morocco over the Sahara.
