Organized by the Senegalese Socialist Party (PS), the two-day meeting was attended by representatives of progressive political parties from about twenty African countries. The Moroccan delegation is composed of Khaoula Lachguar, Machij Elkarkari and Aicha El Gorji, member of the USFP Political Bureau.

The opening of the meeting, held after two years of absence of gathering of the Africa Committee of the Socialist International because of the health crisis, took place in the presence of the Chairman of the Committee the Malian Bokary Treta.

The members of delegations participating in this event were received, on Saturday at the Presidential Palace, by Senegal’s President Macky Sall, current chairman of the African Union (AU), who has, on this occasion, discussed the major issues of the African continent and geostrategic problems that arise, including the situation in the Sahel-Sahara region, the effects of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis on Africa and other issues.

In a statement to MAP, Khaoula Lachguar, who attended the meeting, said that the Senegalese Head of State has, during his meeting with the Moroccan delegation, praised the excellent partnership between Morocco and Senegal.

She said that the Moroccan delegation has done its best during this meeting work so that the Dakar meeting of the SI Africa Committee does not issue any resolution that could undermine Morocco’s territorial integrity or raise the Sahara issue, and this thanks to the support of representatives of friendly countries, including Senegal, host country of this meeting.

This meeting was an opportunity for the USFP delegation to castigate the allegations of separatists and remind participants of the content of Resolution 2654 of the United Nations Security Council which was in favor of Morocco and supporting the autonomy initiative presented by the Kingdom in 2007, said Lachguar, stressing that this meeting was also an opportunity to denounce the conditions and the humanitarian situation in the Tindouf camps as well as the abuses committed by the “polisario” militias.

She also announced that the USFP has concluded on the sidelines of the meeting in Dakar a partnership agreement with the Socialist Party of Senegal on the exchange of expertise and the organization of training sessions for young people and women of both parties.
