MAP Director General Holds Talks with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Morocco

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the development of bilateral relations, especially in the field of media, the objective being to enable the two peoples to better know each other.

Talks also focused on the quality of relations between Morocco and Kazakhstan and ways to develop cooperation between MAP and news agencies in Kazakhstan, including Kazinform, one of the largest media outlets in the Central Asian country.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s 24-hour news channel, Sailaukyzy said the meeting was “very productive” and expressed the desire to develop cooperation in the media field.

Welcoming the “very good relations” between the two countries at the political level since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1992, the diplomat expressed her determination to contribute to the promotion of economic relations between Morocco and Kazakhstan.

“Although the two countries are not bound by economic agreements, bilateral trade reached 128 million dollars in 2021, up 82%,” said Ms. Sailaukyzy, who expressed confidence that these exchanges will improve in the future, given the shared interest of both countries in expanding bilateral cooperation.

The diplomat also emphasized the various tracks of future cooperation for both countries, mentioning in this regard promising sectors such as media, culture and tourism.

On this occasion, MAP Director-General invited the ambassador of Kazakhstan to be the guest of MAP’s diplomatic forum in the coming months to highlight the economic opportunities of this country in various sectors, including oil and agriculture.

Mr. Hachimi Idrissi also mentioned the 7th edition of the News Agencies World Congress (NAWC), which will be organized by MAP in late November 2022 in Marrakech, stressing the openness of the Moroccan News Agency on partnerships with Kazakh news agencies.

In this regard, MAP Director General expressed the willingness of the agency to work together with the embassy of Kazakhstan in Morocco, which opened on December 30, 2020, to promote greater coverage of the news of both countries.
