“we have managed that difficult phase successfully and in a unique way,” said the Sovereign in his speech to the Nation on Saturday, on the occasion of the Throne Day.

HM the King said that many people, especially from vulnerable and poor segments of society, have been deeply affected socially and economically, but the state has exerted tremendous efforts, devoting significant financial resources to tackling the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing direct material assistance to needy families and supporting the sectors affected by the pandemic.

The State has also ensured a regular and sufficient supply of basic necessities in all regions of the country, added HM the King.

In addition, the Sovereign noted that everyone agrees that Morocco was one of the first countries which managed to purchase the vaccine needed, providing it, free of charge, not just to its citizens, but also to foreign residents, despite the exceedingly high costs.

HM the King recalled, in this context, the implementation of the great project of generalization of social protection and upgrading of the health system, as well as the launch of several projects that aim to achieve health sovereignty and ensure the safety and security of citizens.

Thus, says the Sovereign, in less than a year, the number of self-employed workers and the number of their families benefiting from the AMO has passed the six million mark.

Moreover, at the end of the current year, the compulsory health coverage will be completed, extending to the beneficiaries of RAMED, the Sovereign assured.

HM the King expressed His determination to implement by the end of 2023 the project of gradual generalization of family allowances, “in accordance with the program set to this end.”

This solidarity project of national interest, explained the Sovereign, will benefit about seven million children, especially those belonging to poor families or in precarious situations and three million households with no children of school age.

To this end, HM the King called for the finalization of the Unified Social Register, which is considered the main mechanism for providing effective support.
