This decision comes on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to confirm the decision of the DGAPR to lift the ban on meal baskets during the periods of religious holidays, given the beneficial psychological impact of this holiday on prisoners and in terms of preserving family ties, said the DGAPR in a statement, noting that this operation will be held according to a schedule defined by the management of the prison, while continuing the normal program of family visits.
The prisons will ensure to offer all the necessary facilities to their residents to contact their families and inform them of the scheduled date and the conditions required to introduce the food baskets.
The General Delegation urges the families of prisoners to “be committed seriously and responsibly to make this operation successful, without trying to introduce anything that is likely to undermine the security of the prison, while fully complying with the preventive measures against Covid-19”.
