Dori: The CRUS is developing a market garden area for the benefit of IDPs


The Regional Committee of Unions of the Sahel (CRUS) organized in Dori, on June 12, 2024, an inaugural ceremony of a 2.5 hectare market gardening area for the benefit of 50 households of internally displaced people ( PDI) and delivery of equipment worth 70 million CFA francs to women’s and breeders’ associations.

According to the representative of the secretary general of the CRUS, Mr. Boubacar Diallo, the creation of this jewel is part of the agro-sylvo-pastoral offensive of the Burkinabe government.

According to him, this market gardening site created in Dori for security reasons was originally intended for producers in the communes of Déou and Oursi.

And Mr. Diallo adds that the CRUS expects beneficiaries to have good organization for optimal exploitation of the site, strict compliance with technical itineraries and good production allowing them to increase their income.

This market gardening area covers an area of ??2.5 ha and has 50 plots of 400 m2 each.

It has a water supply, equipped with solar p
anels, three tanks and water basins.

The beneficiaries received farming equipment consisting of gloves, shovels, picks, wheelbarrows and watering cans.

Eight multifunctional platforms, a crusher, a compactor and a mixer were also handed over to women’s and farmers’ associations.

The estimated cost of all of these achievements by the CRUS and its partners is 70 million CFA francs.

The beneficiaries warmly thanked the CRUS and its partners and committed to using the material received wisely.

On behalf of the governor of the Sahel region, Mr. Wulfran Bamas, high commissioner of the Séno province, welcomed this action by the CRUS.

For him, this gesture is proof of the effective presence of this NGO among the Sahelian populations in these difficult times.

According to Mr. Bamas, this market gardening area and this equipment will allow IDPs to produce to meet their needs.

To do this, he asked producers to take care of the site and to take advice from agricultural technicians who will be at their side to ena
ble them to produce what they need.

It should be remembered that the CRUS is a grouping of 1997 groups operating in livestock breeding, agriculture and fishing, created in 1989 and recognized in 1993, with the aim of promoting the agro-sylvo-pastoral potential of the Sahel region. , thanks to the development of approaches promoting the Sahelian in his environment.
