Cybercrime Crackdown: New Suspect Nabbed for Breaching Automated Data Processing Systems

Tangier – In a recent police operation in Tangier, an individual was apprehended on Tuesday for suspected involvement in a case concerning the breach of automated data processing systems and telephone call hacking, as reported by a security source.

According to preliminary investigation findings, the suspect is believed to be part of a network responsible for hacking into national telecommunications infrastructure. Their modus operandi reportedly involves using electronic equipment to reroute international calls through local networks, thereby profiting from tariff differentials.

Upon searching the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers seized a significant cache of equipment, including a laptop, 82 wireless internet connection devices, 2,077 SIM cards, and 1,758 SIM card supports, along with various electronic and computer peripherals linked to the criminal activities.

The suspect has been placed in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s offi
ce. Authorities aim to uncover the full extent of the operation and apprehend any additional accomplices involved in the illicit activities, as emphasized by the security source.

Additionally, this crackdown comes in the wake of another recent arrest on Sunday, where Tangier policemen caught an individual in the act of breaching automated data processing systems. The suspect was found with a vehicle containing similar tools used in telephone hacking.
