This agreement, inked by Omar Elyazghi, Managing Director of CDG Développement and Mihoub Mezouaghi, Director of AFD’s representation in Morocco, is part of the close partnership between CDG and AFD, two pilot institutions of the IDFC (International Development Finance Club), said the two parties in a joint statement.

It aims to contribute to the operationalization of the New Development Model (NMD), on the one hand, through the long-term low-carbon strategy of the Kingdom and, on the other hand, via the social dimension of the NMD, the same source said.

The two public development banks, AFD and CDG Group, enjoy a privileged relationship based on historical partnerships in key strategic sectors (urban development, green finance, industrial development, …), said the statement.

This memorandum of understanding aims to promote the model of sustainable and inclusive development chosen by the Kingdom of Morocco in its NMD.

Two common areas of cooperation have been identified. These are the decarbonization of the activity zones of MEDZ, a subsidiary of CDG Développement, and the development of the health system and the supply of care on the national territory.

In addition to the protocol, specific agreements will be signed between CDG Développement and AFD at a later date to specify the concrete terms and conditions for carrying out joint operations.
