The health district of Kombissiri organized this Friday, May 5, 2023, an advocacy meeting for the benefit of administrative officials and community leaders on the combined vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and cervical cancer .
From May 5 to 11, 2023, the health district of Kombissiri, like the other districts on the national territory, is organizing a vaccination campaign against covid-19 and HPV or cancer of the cervix.
For the smooth running of the campaign, district officials organized an advocacy meeting with administrative officials and community leaders from the municipalities covered by the health district, namely Doulougou, Gaongo, Kombissiri and Toécé.
The objective is to sensitize these leaders to be vectors of information within their base and to convince the target populations to be vaccinated.
For the head of the expanded immunization program (EPI), Moïse Zoundi, vaccination against HPV, which is cancer of the cervix, is a priority of the sectoral health policy.
According to him, in Burkina Faso, cancer of the cervix is the second female cancer with 1132 new cases annually.
Vaccination against HPV for this campaign concerns girls aged between 9 and 10 years. Vaccination against covid-19 will concern target populations aged 12-17, 18 and over, people aged 60 and over and people living with morbidity (tension, asthma, diabetes, etc.).
The sites selected for vaccinations are the usual routine vaccination sites, schools and other sites where people gather.
This meeting allowed the district to take stock of the March 2022 COVID-19 campaign, which totaled 10,360 people vaccinated, i.e. a rate of 84% of the identified target population.
For this coupled campaign, the High Commissioner of the province of Bazèga Téné Justine Kientéga/Ilboudo who chaired the meeting, urged community leaders to commit to this coupled vaccination campaign
