The “cultural heritage month” extending each year from April 18 to May 18 and aimed at mobilizing citizens around curiosities and places of memory in order to boost tourism was officially launched on Thursday in the Center-South region, noted the AIB.

The cultural riches of the Centre-Sud will, for at least a month, be at the center of all attention after the launch, yesterday Thursday, by the governor of the region, Yvette Nacoulma, of the “cultural heritage month” whose l he objective is to develop internal tourism through the mobilization of citizens around curiosities and places of memory.

It is the courtyard of the chief of the canton of Manga, Naaba Kiiba 2, who was chosen for the ceremony in the presence of customary and religious authorities, officials of the regional administration and many pupils and students from schools and city university.

Some facets of culture were discovered in the royal court during the launch of the “month of cultural heritage”.

The visit of several material cultural heritages and a release of doves, among other things, marked the activity whose national theme of the edition is “Cultural heritage and peace”.

In the opinion of Yvette Nacoulma, culture and peace are linked concepts, hence the interest and importance of the theme of the 2023 edition.

“If we know our culture, our values and our traditions, we can know ourselves and know others,” explained the governor of the Center-South.

The tradition is still perpetuated within the royal court

“It is a guarantee of peace and harmonious living together between the different communities”, she added, specifying that for this purpose, throughout the month that runs, peace will be preached, at the local level. , through culture.

The regional director in charge of Culture of the Centre-south, Didier Yaméogo, announced that the activities in perspective will mainly concern tourist excursions.

The governor of the Centre-Sud, Yvette Nacoulma wishes that the populations take ownership of the initiative of the “month of cultural heritage”.

“We will involve different social strata including pupils, students and corporate bodies who will visit in turn the tourist and cultural potential of the region”, he noted.

The Governor of the Center-South recalled that the “heritage month” initiative is not only aimed at the enhancement and promotion of culture.

“It is above all a transmission belt of values and cultural knowledge to current and future generations”, indicated Yvette Nacoulma who urges, moreover, the local populations to appropriate it.

The chief of the canton of Manga, Naaba Kiiba 2, is one of the guarantors of the tradition at the local level.

Scheduled to take place each year from April 18 to May 18 as instituted by the current Transition government, the “cultural heritage month” is held at the local level for practical reasons, according to the director Regional in charge of Culture in the Centre-South, Didier Yaméogo.
