Burkina/Cinema: Filming and photography first require authorization, press release


Ouagadougou: The Ministry in charge of Communication recalls that since 2013, authorization has been required before starting any filming or photography activity anywhere in Burkina.

In a press release, the Ministry of Communication reminded all actors in the 7th art that official authorization is required before starting any filming or photography activity for professional cinematographic projects.

According to the same document, this provision has been in force since May 21, 2013, following decree no. 2013-384/PRES/PM/CMT, establishing conditions for exercising the cinematographic and audiovisual profession.

As a reminder, in June 2021, the general directorate of cinema and audiovisual carried out, in the city of Ouagadougou, visits to several cinemas and film sets, in order to verify the regularity of administrative documents relating to the sector .

Conditions for obtaining filming authorization

The filming authorization is an administrative act which grants p
roduction structures the right to shoot fiction films, series, serials and documentaries.

Document(s) to be provided: Professional card plus an amount to pay.

The cost varies between 10,000 and 30,000 FCFA for episodes, short and feature-length Burkinabè films. For the same formats for African films, the cost is between 25,000 and 50,000 FCFA.
