During the call, the two presidents affirmed their firm desire to further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries in various fields for the benefit of the two peoples and their common interests.

Tunis: Tourism indicators trended upwards in Mahdia in the period running from January 1 to June 10. Tourist numbers rose 3.3% compared to the same period last year to 48,571.
Bednights followed suit, growing 26.8% to 243, 916, Tourism Commissioner Mohamed Boujdaria told TAP.
This demonstrates a comeback of traditional markets with 27% of bednights monopolised by the German market. British and French visitors spent 15% and 10%, respectively, of overnight stays. The share of the domestic market was estimated at 12%.
Figures also show the duration of the tourist stay rose to five days (+22.8%). The hotel occupancy rate stood at 25%, up 10.7% on the same period last year.
Tourism professionals expect the occupancy rate to hit 90% by late June and 100% in July and August.

Tunis: On the sidelines of his participation in the 112th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), held on June 13 and 14 in Geneva, Switzerland, Minister of Social Affairs, Kamel Madouri, held talks with a number of his counterparts from several countries.
These meetings focused on the need to develop cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly labour, professional relations, health, safety at work and social security.
Madouri met with the Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, the Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies, the Swiss State Secretary for Labour and the Turkish Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, in the presence of the Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations and specialised institutions in Switzerland, Sabri Bachtobji.
At a meeting to support the Global Coalition for Social Justice, an innovative cooperation initiative launched by the ILO to address social justice deficits and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda fo
r Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Decent Work Agenda, Madouri met the Minister of Labour of Namibia and the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Kenya.
At the end of his participation in the 112th session of the International Labour Conference, the Minister of Social Affairs visited Dar Ettounsi in Geneva on Friday.
He took the opportunity to stress the need to develop a new vision in line with the structural changes and profound transformations undergone by the Tunisian Diaspora.

Tunis: “Sales of the Tunisian destination in France have shown a noticeable upward trend during this period. We are expecting positive figures this year,” said President of the Syndicat des entreprises du tour-opérating (SETO) René-Marc Chikli, during a VTC meeting with Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Mohamed Moez Belhassine.
The number of French tourists who visited Tunisia between January 1 and June 10 was up by 9.5% in 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, and by 24% compared with 2019. For the whole of 2023, Tunisia welcomed 1.16 million French tourists, according to statistics provided by the General Directorate of Borders and Foreigners (Ministry of the Interior).
The minister also had a VTC talk with President of the German Travel Association (DRV) Norbert Fiebig, according to a Tourism Department press release on Friday evening.
The German official said he was “optimistic” about achieving “good” results in 2024, notably during the summer period.
“Tunisia enjoys an exceptional position with
German tour operators and travel agencies. It is one of Germany’s favourite destinations,” he stated.
Up to June 10, the number of German tourists had risen by 9.8% compared with the same period in 2023, and by 7.4% compared with 2019.
For the whole of last year, 303,000 entries by German tourists were recorded (Interior Ministry statistics).
During these meetings, Belhassine called on the French and German sides to further promote Tunisia as a destination and to collaborate with Tunisian tourism professionals, pointing out that this year his department has started implementing a programme aimed at improving the “tourist experience” of foreign visitors to Tunisia and developing the services on offer.

Tunis: The French public investment bank “Bpifrance” on June 13 launched the Maghreb Fund to support the internationalisation of French companies in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia
In partnership with the interministerial delegation to the Mediterranean, Bpifrance is launching the ‘Maghreb Fund’ to strengthen the internationalization of French companies towards Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
This system was officially launched on June 12, 2024 by the President of the Republic as part of the first edition of the Ancrages Forum, dedicated to entrepreneurship and creation between the territories of France and the African continent.
Operated by Bpifrance, the Maghreb Fund will deploy different investment, financing, guarantee and support solutions up to pound 100 million between 2024 and 2027, particularly in the sectors of industry, energy, agriculture and pharmaceuticals, in collaboration with partners from the Maghreb.

MEDENNE: The Carthage ferry arrived at the port of Zarzis (Medenine governorate) at 8am on Saturday. It came from the port of Marseille with 839 passengers and 427 vehicles on board.
Director of the port of Zarzis, Anis Zaned, pointed out that “this first voyage marks the start of the sea crossings planned by the Tunisian Shipping Company (CTN) to ensure the return of Tunisians living abroad”.
Nine crossings are planned, six return crossings between Marseille and Zarzis and three one-way crossings.
The crossings to the port of Zarzis are set for July 8 and 23, August 8 and September 16, in addition to a crossing from the port of Genoa (Italy), on August 23.
The three departures are scheduled for August 8 and 26 and September 16.

Tunis: Club Féminin de Carthage have kept the title of Tunisian volleyball champion (women) for the 5th season in a row, following their victory over CS Sfaxien 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-16), on Friday, on the final day of the Super Play-off of the National division.
This is the 11th title won by the Carthaginians, who had already been crowned champions in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023.
CF Carthage finished top of the standings with 16 points, ahead of CS Sfaxien, while Esperance de Tunis finished third ahead of Club Africain.

Tunis: Tunisian Yassine Gharbi bagged three gold medals in Paris 2024 Grand Prix – Handisport Open Paris (June 12-13) in men’s 400m, 800m and 1500m – T54.
Gharbi clocked 45.69 in 400m as he outraced Japan’s Tomoki Ikoma (47.67). His 800m time was 1:33.41, while clocking 2:59.29 in 1500m.

TUNIS: Club Sportif Sfaxien defeated Etoile Sportive du Sahel 2-1 at a Tunisia’s soccer Ligue 1 Championship phase day-9 game played on Saturday afternoon in Sousse.
The home side opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Hamza Jelassi’s penalty, before Sfaxien equalised through Baraket Hmidi in the 18th minute. Youssef Becha then doubled the lead and scored the winner in the 21st minute.
The referee sent off CSS’ Guinean Fodé Camara in the 36th minute.

Tunis: Esperance Sportive de Tunis won their 33rd championship title one day before the end of the Championship phase, after defeating US Monastir 2-0 at a day-9 game played on Saturday evening in Rades behind closed doors.
Rodrigo Rodriguez scored the two goals in the 21st and 66th minutes.
With this sixth win and third in a row in the championship phase, Esperance took their tally to 23 points, a full eight points ahead of US Monastir with one day to go.

Ouagadougou: The Ministry in charge of Communication recalls that since 2013, authorization has been required before starting any filming or photography activity anywhere in Burkina.
In a press release, the Ministry of Communication reminded all actors in the 7th art that official authorization is required before starting any filming or photography activity for professional cinematographic projects.
According to the same document, this provision has been in force since May 21, 2013, following decree no. 2013-384/PRES/PM/CMT, establishing conditions for exercising the cinematographic and audiovisual profession.
