Zabre Parish Festival Celebrates Faith and Community

Zabre: The parish of Sainte-Therese de l’Enfant Jesus in Zabre celebrated its parish feast this Sunday, October 12, 2025. The priest, Father Jean Denis Ilboudo, recalled on the occasion that “everything is grace.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, the parish feast of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus was marked by a high mass celebrated by the priest Jean Denis Ilboudo, under the blessing of the bishop of the diocese of Manga, Monsignor Leopold Medard Ouedraogo, with the participation of several priests from all over the diocese. The event was also attended by administrative and traditional authorities who came to support the Catholic faithful of Zabre. The priest expressed his gratitude to all participants.

In his homily, the priest commented on the day’s Gospel, according to Saint Luke, which recounts Jesus’ healing of ten lepers. He emphasized that healing is the fruit of faith. “Of the ten lepers healed, only one returned to Jesus to thank him. This Gospel highlights ingratitude and calls us to be aware of the gifts received,” explained Father Ilboudo. He expressed his pride in the commitment of the parish’s faithful, emphasizing their influence, before praying that the Lord would continue to accompany them, enlighten them, and guide them on the path of faith.

Bishop Leopold Medard Ouedraogo of the Diocese of Manga praised the commitment of the Catholic faithful of the parish of Sainte-Therese de l’Enfant Jesus in Zabre to their priest. “Our country is currently going through a security crisis, but we will certainly emerge from it. What I ask of all Burkinabe is to love one another, as Christ loved us,” the bishop declared.

The president of the Parish Council, Toboure Yigo, praised the initiatives of the daughters and sons of Zabre, wherever they are, for the development of the parish. He also thanked the three choirs – Bissaphone, Moorephone, and Francophone – who brilliantly enlivened the mass.

Several faithful expressed their satisfaction with the way the celebration went. Simeon Gouba wished everyone a happy celebration and prayed to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus to intercede with God for the daughters and sons of the Zabre Family Church, so that their faith may continue to flourish.

The parish of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus of Zabre will celebrate its diamond jubilee (75 years) in 2027.
