The global NGO for development cooperation and humanitarian action (EDUCO) and its partners organized a closing workshop for the activities of the ‘Integrated project for access to education, nutrition, protection and water, hygiene and sanitation services for children affected by the security crisis in the Northern region (FHRAOC III)’. It was on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the headquarters of the NGO in Ouahigouya, under the chairmanship of the Governor of the Northern Region, represented by Mr. Kouilga Albert Zongo, Secretary General of the Region.
This project, implemented over a period of 12 months, aimed to improve access to education, protection, WASH services, as well as the coverage and quality of acute malnutrition management for displaced and host communities in the Northern region, through a multi-sectoral and integrated response. The communes of Séguénéga, Ouahigouya, Kossouka (Yatenga province) and Titao (Loroum province) were the project intervention areas.

ility activity, which was effectively attended by regional authorities, the Country Director of EDUCO, Oscar Palé, and his colleagues, made it possible to share the results of the project and to encourage discussions on the means and strategies to be implemented to guarantee the sustainability of the achievements obtained.
During the presentation of the implementation results by Idrissa Ouédraogo, project coordinator, it emerged that in terms of education, FHRAOC III was able to set up 40 listening clubs for learning through radio in the 4 communes (Kossouka, Ouahigouya, Séguénéga and Titao) and provide 1,334 vulnerable households with radios and USB keys for school learning at home.
In addition, 40 listening clubs, 6 child-friendly spaces and 1,334 vulnerable households were provided with water storage containers, hygiene and disease prevention kits, as well as menstrual hygiene management kits for 600 vulnerable girls.
Protection activities were not left behind, with the establishment of 6 child-friendly
spaces in 4 municipalities, the care of 400 children in extremely precarious situations, the establishment of 2,000 birth certificates and 1,000 CNIBs for the benefit of host and displaced communities in the municipalities of Séguénéga and Titao, as well as the care of 50 survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
This project was funded by the Regional Humanitarian Fund for West and Central Africa (FHRAOC) for an amount of 420,700,000 CFA francs. It was implemented by EDUCO and its operational partners, the Association Appui Moral Matériel et Intellectuel de l’Enfant (AMMIE), the Association TStre du Loroum (ATL) and the Association Sini Gnassigui (ASG), in perfect collaboration with the technical services of the State.
Mr. Kouilga Albert Zongo, on behalf of the governor of the region, congratulated the NGO EDUCO and its partners for sharing the results of the implementation of the project, which achieved a physical and financial completion rate of 105.5%.
