On the occasion of World Theater Day 2023 celebrated last Monday, Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub invited the actors to all stand up together, (…) and let their words out to awaken the consciousness of the whole world, to seek in them the lost essence of humanity .

“I invite you all to stand up together, hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder, to shout at the top of your voice, as we are used to on the stages of our theaters, and to let out our words to awaken the consciousness around the world,” Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub said in a message sent to AIB last Monday.

She also invited the actors to seek in themselves “the lost essence of humanity: that of a free, tolerant, loving, sympathetic, gentle and accepting human being, capable of rejecting this vile image of brutality, racism, bloody conflicts, one-sided thinking and extremism”.

Samiha Ayoub asked the actors to take their “feet out of the quagmire of wars and bloody conflicts, and leave them at the entrance to the stage” hoping that “humanity, put in doubt”, will once again become a categorical certainty and that populations have the pride “of being human and of being all brothers and sisters in humanity”.

“It is our mission, as playwrights, bearers of the torch of light, from the first actor’s first appearance on the first stage, to be at the forefront of confronting all that is ugly, bloody and inhuman. To face it with all that is beautiful, pure and human,” she said.

“It is up to us, and no one else, to have the ability to spread life. Let’s make it shine together, in the name of one world and one humanity,” she finished.

In another message sent to the AIB, the National Federation of Theater in Burkina (FENATHEB) invites the men and women of the theater of Burkina to inscribe on the hand of each woman, each man and each child, a postcard of passion and of love for our theater in the face of the insecurity that the country is going through.

The message signed by the vice-president of FENATHEB Lionelle Edoxi Gnoula invites every woman, man and child to hold “this card so that it remains and sprouts beautiful shows in each structure, in each company, in the body of each actor. and actress, in the spirit of the authors, in the madness of the directors, in the energy of the technicians”.

“For this, we will continue to create and perform theatre, humor, puppetry and tell our tales to speak to traumatized hearts and lost souls,” said Ms. Gnoula.

She added: “The dawn will return to us so that the theater shines in all our regions, everywhere in our country of upright men”. “Happy theater day, long live hope, long live resilience, long live the theatre”, he finished.
