President of the Turkish Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Group Ravza Kavakci Kan has commended the work and performance of Bahraini women in the Parliament.

She stressed that women in Bahrain have made great progress in various fields and sectors, in light of the support, care and attention they have enjoyed.

The AK Party Istanbul Deputy said that she attended a session in which women were discussed, during which the participants learned more about the extent of progress made by women in Bahrain and the support they are receiving.

It was motivating for the rest of the world to see the great progress achieved by Bahrain in the participation of women in political life and in the decision-making process, she added.

Ravza Kavakci Kan said that the progress of women, who represent half of the world’s population, is not only linked to women, but also to the support of men.

The support from both men and women is crucial if people want a better future for the world and future generations, she said.

The Turkish deputy referred to Türkiye’s experience in supporting women and said that it was similar to the one in Bahrain.

Women are able to achieve the set development goals, and when all women unite, there is nothing that prevents them from achieving success, she said.

She noted that there are committees in the IPU Assembly that deal with parliamentary women.

Ravza Kavakci Kan, who holds a Ph.D in political science from Howard University in Washington, DC (2013), emphasized the importance of the topics discussed in the IPU meetings, including cyber-attacks.

The theme of the IPU 146th Assembly “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Inclusive Societies: Fighting Intolerance” reflects a very important topic, as the world today is in dire need of spreading a culture of peace, tolerance, coexistence and the rejection of extremism, she added.
