Violence: Central Committee of Discipline and Fair Play Imposes Sanctions on AS FAR, Maghreb of Fez

Rabat – The Central Committee of Discipline and Fair Play, under the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has imposed sanctions on AS FAR and Maghreb of Fez, following the events that marred their match, held Sunday as part of the qualifiers of the Throne Cup 2020-2021, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

In a statement, the Committee said that following these events and referring to the reports it received about this game and after viewing the video footage of acts of anti-sports violence that occurred and affect the image of national soccer, it decided the following:

— For AS FAR:

1. To play behind closed doors the matches of AS FAR and prohibit its supporters to attend the away games of the club for the rest of the sports season (art. 36, 76, 60, 105 of the disciplinary code) because of the seriousness of the events that occurred and acts of violence committed by the supporters of AS FAR and which caused serious injuries for elements of law enforcement and supporters, as well as material damage to the various dependencies of the stadium.

2. A fine of 50.000 dirhams against AS FAR following the throwing of stones and other objects towards the playing area (art.105 of the disciplinary code).

3. A fine of 50.000 dirhams against AS FAR following the invasion of the stadium pitch by the club’s supporters (art.105 of the disciplinary code).

4. A fine of 20.000 dirhams against AS FAR following the use by its supporters of smoke bombs (art.105 of the disciplinary code).

5. To charge to AS FAR the repair costs caused by the damage to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex of Rabat and its equipment after evaluation, AS FAR being the host club and responsible for the organization (art. 22 of the competitions regulations and art. 105 of the disciplinary code)

— For Maghreb of Fez (MAS):

1. To play two matches of MAS behind closed doors because of the behavior of its supporters, the invasion of the stadium pitch at the end of the match and the use of smoke and stone throwing (art.60, 76 and 105 of the disciplinary code).

2. A fine of 50,000 dirhams was imposed on MAS after its supporters threw stones and other objects at the playing area (art.105 of the disciplinary code).

3. A fine of 50.000 dirhams was imposed on MAS after its supporters invaded the field of play (art.105 of the disciplinary code).

4. A fine of 20.000 dirhams against MAS after the use of smoke bombs by its supporters (art.105 of the disciplinary code).
