Upper House Speaker Holds Talks with Jordanian Counterpart

During this meeting, Mr. Al Fayez handed Mr. Mayara a written message from HM King Abdullah II to his brother His Majesty King Mohammed VI, said a statement from the Upper House.

The discussions between the two sides focused on bilateral relations between the two Kingdoms and the means to develop them, as well as on the current international and Arab situation.

In this regard, Mr. Mayara and his Jordanian counterpart hailed the fraternal ties and solid relations between the two countries, which draw their strength from the remarkable and fraternal relationship between the two Heads of State.

After discussing bilateral relations and the need to work more in order to develop and expand them, Mr. Mayara expressed the will of the Upper House to move forward in bilateral parliamentary cooperation to serve common interests.

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, Mr. Mayara praised Jordan’s unwavering position in favor of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, reflected by the opening of a consulate general in the city of Laayoune.

For his part, Mr. Al Fayez welcomed the solidity of relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, calling for the implementation of more agreements and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

He also called for the exchange of experiences in the areas of vocational training, renewable energies, aeronautics and the agro-food industry.

The two sides voiced their determination to step up parliamentary cooperation relations and intensify consultation in the various regional and international parliamentary fora, the statement concluded.
