Burkina Faso: The Paspanga gendarmerie has received 100 “aloba” motorcycles from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to bolster security operations across the nation. The handover ceremony took place on Friday, marking a significant step in strengthening the operational capabilities of the National Gendarmerie.
According to Burkina Information Agency, UNDP Acting Deputy Resident Representative Dieudonn© Kini stated, “We have handed over 100 Aloba motorcycles worth 67,750,000 CFA francs to strengthen the operational capabilities of the National Gendarmerie.” He emphasized that despite the challenging international climate, UNDP remains committed to supporting Burkina Faso’s development efforts, focusing particularly on the security sector.
Colonel Issa Yaguibou, Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its importance in enhancing security measures. “This donation will enable us to improve our performance in securing the country’s people and property, particularly in the joint mission to combat terrorism and recapture the national territory,” Yaguibou said.
Commander Ahmed Ou©draogo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Security, also expressed joy over the arrival of the motorcycles, which were funded by the Federal Republic of Germany. He noted that this equipment would strengthen existing resources and enhance operational capabilities. Ou©draogo mentioned that the handover is part of a larger initiative costing pound 20 million over five years, aimed at improving infrastructure, capacity building, and logistical resources for the internal security forces, including the national police and the national gendarmerie.
