As part of the decentralized cooperation between Morocco and Italy, this agreement was inked by president of the Local Council of Dakhla, Erragheb Hormatallah, and Mayor of Vibo Valentia, Maria Limardo, in the presence of several representatives of local authorities and civil society.

This agreement, the second after the one signed last Saturday between Dakhla and the city of Crotone, opens promising prospects for the consolidation of partnership ties between the two parties in the economic, tourism, environmental, associative, cultural and sporting fields in view of the notorious growth witnessed by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.

On this occasion, the Mayor of Vibo Valentia, capital of the province that bears the same name whose population is estimated at 160,000 inhabitants, expressed the willingness of his city to strengthen trade relations with Dakhla, which has become an important regional economic hub.

In this sense, the Italian official highlighted the unique political stability enjoyed by Morocco at the regional level which represents, she said, a major asset for the establishment of a cooperation relationship between the two parties.

Saying “impressed” by the Moroccan experience in promoting the political participation of women in elected bodies, Limardo announced a future economic mission of Vibo Valentia in Morocco to concretize the cooperation between the two cities.

For his part, Hormatallah expressed his willingness to establish “lasting and favorable relations in all sectors of common interest” with Vibo Valentia.

The municipality of Dakhla is aware of the impact that could have such a dynamic cooperation and partnership between the two respective territories and is committed with all its potential and its assets to work for the success of this partnership, he stressed.
