Tunisia to create Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank

Tunisia is planning to create a Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank, reads an Economy and Planning Ministry press release issued Thursday.

The new bank, to be created within the framework of a partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB), was at heart of a meeting between Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied and AfDB Group President Akinwumi Adesina, held in Sharm el Sheikh on the sildelines of his participation in the AfDB Annual Meetings.

Both officials further discussed the progress made in studies related to the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank project, which aims ro support young entrepreneurs so as to carry out their projects and contribute effectively to economic recovery.

On this occasion, Saied voiced Tunisia’s readiness to support the “African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation (APTF)”, created by the AfDB, by proposing the inking of partnership agreements between this foundation and the Pasteur Institute in Tunisia.

In this respect, he recalled the experience and the confirmed reputation of Tunisia in this field.

For his part, Adesine confirmed the AfDB’s willingness to continue supporting Tunisia in the achievement of future projects, notably in the grain sector development field, waste water recycling and its valorisation in the agricultural field and the setting up of industrial spaces in the regions.
