Tunisia, Japan discuss setting up centre of excellence for cardiovascular medicine

Partnership projects in the health field, discussed during the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8), took centre stage at a meeting held on Tuesday afternoon between Health Minister Ali Mrabet, former Japanese Senator and President of the Association of African Economy and Development (AFRECO) Tetsuro Yano and Japanese Ambassador to Tunisia Takeshi Osuga. The setting up of a centre of excellence for cardiovascular medicine was also discussed during this meeting, reads a ministry press release. “This training and cardiovascular disease treatment centre will be equipped with the latest technology,” the same source added. On this occasion, Mrabet commended the Tunisian-Japanese partnership in the health field, pointing out the importance of this centre in bolstering health-related training and research in Tunisia and Africa. Yano reaffirmed for his part, his country’s commitment to step up partnership with Tunisia in all fields.
