The newspaper thus evokes a “passion that nothing seems to have to extinguish, not even the stop-and-go of two years of the pandemic.

No sooner had the borders of Morocco reopened on February 7 than the requests from French travelers jumped. A dynamic that confirms, if need be, the privileged place of the Kingdom in the hearts of the French, who constitute 28% of foreign visitors, i.e. the largest contingent of travellers, seduced by this country so close, three little hours by plane, and so exotic,” the publication pointed out in an article posted online under the title “Return to Morocco: the crazy energy of Marrakech and Tangier.”

“But the Morocco of March 2022 is no longer quite that of March 2020”, said the newspaper, adding that the Kingdom has regained its colors and verve, as shown by a newly-opened event, an international festival revitalizing the storytelling tradition of the Jemaa el-Fna square.

Carriage ballets, processions of Gnaoua musicians and whirlwinds of halqas marked the “return to the usual exuberance, far from the gloomy images of a deserted esplanade”, it pointed out.

The daily newspaper highlighted the other assets of the Ocher City, including the Medina which witnesses several projects under construction, noting that the Kingdom, with a program of renovation of many Medinas, intends to enhance its heritage and make people want to go to its historic centers.

The key: a flowering of new museums. In the wake of the inauguration of the Kasbah Museum in Tangier, a former 17th century prison transformed into a center of contemporary art, the National Museums Foundation (FNM) is planning several major openings in 2022, including one devoted to Jemaa el-Fna in the old building of the Bank Al-Maghrib in Marrakech, Le Figaro said.

In addition to these achievements aimed at increasing the cultural influence of the country, the publication highlighted an artistic effervescence which, despite the new postponement of the 1.54 fair of contemporary African art in Marrakech, cannot be denied.

The winds of modernity are also blowing on the city of Tangier, said Le Figaro, which shed lights on its historic ramparts, pedestrian mega-corniche that runs along the Mediterranean and its marina lining up chic lounges.
