The Group of Heads of African Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited to Burkina Faso, on Friday evening in Ouagadougou, expressed wishes for peace, prosperity and well-being to the people of Burkina Faso.

“The celebration of Africa Day offers us the opportunity to send to the High Authorities and to the Government of Burkina Faso our most sincere wishes for a Happy Africa Day, and we also express our wishes for peace, prosperity and well-being for the brotherly people of Burkina Faso”, declared on Friday May 19, 2023 in the evening the Dean of the Group of Heads of African Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited to Burkina Faso Youssef Slaoui.

Mr. Slaoui, also Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Burkina Faso, spoke at the premises of his Embassy in Ouagadougou, on the occasion of the celebration of Africa Day by the Group of Heads of African Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited in Burkina Faso.

This celebration coincides this year with the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the African Union (AU) under the theme “Accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAf)”.

For Mr. Slaoui, “it is urgent to strengthen inter-African and international cooperation in the areas of peace, security and the fight against terrorism by supporting development efforts where the need is felt”.

He said that “the various member countries of the African Group have expressed their solidarity with Burkina Faso and demonstrated their support to meet the challenges, by supporting the efforts underway during this period of Transition”.

The Group, through the voice of its Dean Youssef Slaoui, also expressed its “renewed gratitude” to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivia Rouamba and to the Minister Delegate in charge of Regional Cooperation Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, “for the warm hospitality and the diligent collaboration”. of which they are the object and for “the quality of the diplomatic relations” that Burkina Faso maintains with their respective countries.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Youssef Slaoui reaffirmed “the Group’s readiness to work for the advent of a prosperous, peaceful and reconciled Burkina”.

“The African Group would like to express its wishes for success in the implementation of your various development and cooperation programs on the African and international levels to achieve the objectives set by the Government so that the country experiences the growth necessary for its development. , for a better development of the people of Burkina Faso,” wished Mr. Slaoui to those in charge of Burkina Faso diplomacy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad Olivia Rouamba expressed her “deep gratitude to the African countries and to all the partners who have always shown solidarity and compassion towards Burkina Faso which is going through difficult times in its history.

She hailed “the African group which has always shown solidarity with the Burkinabè Nation”. On this commemorative day of Africa, Burkina Faso through the voice of the head of its diplomacy reaffirmed its “commitment to real and genuine African integration”.

Anything that, in the opinion of Olivia Rouamba, is “essential to the construction of an Africa of peace, security and sustainable development for all its citizens”.

“The government reiterates its attachment to the pan-Africanist ideal and to the ideals of peace, solidarity, cooperation and development advocated by the AU. He will spare no effort to contribute to the construction of a united and prosperous Africa,” Minister Rouamba concluded.

The Organization of African Unity (OAU) was created on May 25, 1963 in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia by the founding fathers of Africa. It was transformed in 2002 into the African Union (AU) and the AfCFTA was launched in 2019.
