Teachers Formulate Recommendations for Effective Teaching at Namentenga Conference

Namentenga: Teachers from the 7 Basic Education Districts (CEB) of the Namentenga province concluded their annual educational conference on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Boulsa. They gathered to formulate crucial recommendations for implementing educational reforms successfully.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference featured workshops where teachers within their respective CEBs discussed the application of educational reforms, focusing on integrating situations, the framework for continuing education, and pedagogical supervision. The conference included a practical presentation of an English lesson with first-year Elementary Course students. Teachers recommended equipping schools adequately for effective English teaching, introducing information and communication technologies (ICT), learning trades, and improving conditions for conference participation.

Ms. Marcelline Sawadogo of the Boulsa “A” school highlighted challenges in teaching, particularly with English phonetics, as she presented her English lesson amidst peer criticism. Tools such as capsules, short films, and guides were identified as resources for teaching English. Inspector Moussa Ouimenga recommended downloading a phonetics application to aid teaching. Teachers expressed gratitude to the hierarchy for organizing the conference. Currently, two 30-minute sessions per week are allocated for teaching oral English from the first year of elementary school, with 45 minutes per week dedicated to trades like soap making, livestock breeding, market gardening, and weaving. Educational reforms will introduce ICT to students from preschool.

The Provincial Director of primary and non-formal preschool education of Namentenga, Ouiraogo Bernard Kabore, on behalf of the regional director of Koulse, praised the teachers and their supervisors for their resilience and effective participation in the conference. DP Kabore wished teachers a successful start to the 2025-2026 school year.
