Comoe/ccp: The Comoe Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) held its first ordinary session of 2025 on October 30, 2025, in Banfora. The framework members discussed several points, with the central theme focusing on social cohesion, prevention, and the management of community conflicts. The proceedings were chaired by Mathieu Tingueri, High Commissioner of the province and statutory president of the Comoe CCP.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during this session, the members of the framework took stock of the state of conflicts for the year 2024 in the province of Comoe, as well as the role of development actors and leaders in the prevention and management of conflicts. They listened to briefings on the humanitarian situation in the province, means of conflict prevention and management, as well as on the UNHCR mandate and international protection.
Participants from the nine departments of the province, including prefects of departments, presidents of special municipal delegations, provincial directors of decentralized structures, heads of projects and programs, and leaders of NGOs and associations, attended the session. Mathieu Tingueri emphasized the importance of the central theme, noting that Comoe faces tensions related to land pressure, coexistence between communities, and other socio-economic challenges. Tingueri highlighted the need for a concerted, inclusive, and sustainable approach to conflict prevention and management.
He stated that peace and cohesion are built through dialogue, mutual listening, respect, and solidarity. He urged for in-depth reflection, objective analysis, and realistic recommendations to consolidate peace in the Comoe region amid the fight against terrorism. Tingueri noted the progress made in the fight against terrorism, emphasizing the necessity of sustaining these gains through social cohesion.
The High Commissioner reported improvements in the humanitarian situation, citing a significant increase in internally displaced persons (IDPs) returning to their places of origin, totaling 45,689 people. He praised the combat forces for their sacrifices in the territory’s reconquest and acknowledged various stakeholders, including administrative authorities, technical services, local authorities, and civil society organizations, for their commitment to promoting harmonious coexistence in Comoe.
