Special Delegation in Leo Allocates Land to SONAGESS and Other Key Institutions


Leo: The Special Delegation of the urban commune of Leo convened its second extraordinary session of the year, led by the first vice-president, Saydou Yago, to deliberate and approve crucial municipal land allocations. The session, held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, focused on significant allocations that support public service enhancement and sustainable development.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Special Delegation approved the allocation of a 1.5-hectare plot to the National Security Stock Management Company (SONAGESS) from the Deferred Development Zone (ZAD), which spans a total of 23 hectares. This decision is a part of the Delegation’s continued efforts to strengthen public services in the municipality.



In addition to the SONAGESS allocation, the session addressed specifications for municipal car park management and land reserves. The Delegation adopted management specifications for these facilities, with future decrees from the municipal authority to formalize the rules and obligations for managers.



Furthermore, land reserves were allocated to the Caisse Populaire and the Office de Sant© des Travailleurs (OST) for constructing their headquarters in Leo. Ms. Dabire nee Yago Awa, representing the Caisse Populaire, expressed satisfaction, highlighting the decision’s benefit to their institution’s service delivery and community presence. Similarly, Paul Tiendrebeogo of the OST acknowledged the allocation as a critical step in enhancing healthcare access for workers.



Additionally, a 600 m² area has been designated for the National Office for Water and Sanitation (ONEA) to build a water tower, further bolstering infrastructure in the locality.



The session concluded after the town hall’s secretary general, Saidou Ouedraogo, confirmed the quorum. A presentation by the provincial directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism rounded off the proceedings, leaving participants content with the outcomes of the session.
