Bobo-Dioulasso: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE proceeded, this Saturday morning, to the laying of the first stone for the construction of the textile factory of the Forces armies of Burkina Faso (TEXFORCES-BF).

Located in Logofoursso at the exit of Bobo-Dioulasso, on the Orodara road, this industrial unit responds to a crucial need expressed in a context of strong security challenge.

For the President of the Transition, this activity is part of an industrialization process that ‘we have initiated, the objective of which is to transform everything we produce’.

The specificity of this factory is the processing of Burkinabè cotton for the manufacture of clothing for the Defense and Security Forces as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP). ‘We have decided to process our cotton locally to be able to primarily clothe the Burkinabè defense and security forces but also the security forces in Africa who wish to obtain supplies here in Burkina Faso,’
indicated the Head of State. .

The Minister in charge of Trade, Serge Gnaniodem PODA explained, in the speech of the Head of State delivered by him, that the offer from TEXFORCES-BF will contribute to breaking with Burkina Faso’s dependence on comes from the outside for the clothing needs of the troops. It will also allow the country to save on orders for FDS outfits. ‘For all these years, we have spent time spending tens of billions of FCFA abroad to be able to equip the defense and security forces,’ said Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

Industrialization being an undeniable factor in economic growth and job creation, the new industrial complex constitutes, according to the governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, Mariama KONATE/GNANOU, ‘the symbol of the union of our forces and our common determination to contribute positively to the national economy while preserving our cultural identity.’

With a construction cost of 15 billion FCFA, the infrastructure will be built over an area of 9 ha and will include buildings f
or spinning, weaving, product manufacturing, an administrative building, a store and an infirmary.
